We are an organization dedicated to exploring the phenomenon known as “catfishing”.  We are interested in how it happens and why people choose to participate in the activity of creating a fake online persona and deceiving others with it.

The rise of social media and the culture of the individual has really accelerated the effectiveness of the practice and we are interested to see solutions that people come up with to combat the practice.

Online dating isn’t going anywhere and with the growing scale of online phishing scams we expect there to be a lot of different approaches to fighting against scammers while still providing a positive environment for people to meet each other and share the human experience.
